Sentient Oceans is the audio/visual art project of producer Adam Lampman. Named after the titular planet in Andrei Tarkovsky’s classic science fiction film Solaris, Sentient Oceans offers scores for the cinema of the imagination. From pulsating, punching synth rhythms to pastoral ambiences, Sentient Oceans’ debut album Hide Your Fires invokes something of the flavour of artists like Tangerine Dream, Fripp and Eno, Goblin, early Mike Oldfield, Manuel Göttsching, and John Carpenter. Adam majored in composition in university, playing in various bands and mixing albums for friends, all the while honing and refining his own vintage future electronic sound. Hide Your Fires is the product of many years of experimentation, trial and error, sweat and tears, analog synths and fuzzy guitars. Cast off to the sounds of the Sentient Oceans.
